This workshop explores how technology can be effectively integrated into clinical supervision, with considerations for both opportunities and challenges. Participants will learn about the wide range of tools available, from videoconferencing platforms to supervision management systems and asynchronous methods. Ethical and legal considerations such as confidentiality, informed consent, and boundary management will be addressed, with guidance from ACA and ACES standards. The workshop also emphasizes strategies for strengthening supervisory presence online.. Finally, participants will consider accessibility, inclusion, and cultural responsiveness to ensure that technology-assisted supervision is equitable and affirming for all supervisees.
Course Objectives:
Understand ethical and practical considerations in using technology for supervision
Compare and contrast tools and platforms for virtual and technology-assisted supervision
Evaluate one’s own supervisory presence, boundaries, and engagement in a technology-based formats
This course will offer 3 NBCC hours.
