Expanding Access to Affirming Care

community aid, development and growth, small business sustainability

The Modern Path Access Fund (MPAF) is a not for profit project fiscally sponsored by Community Initiatives (501c3). Our mission is to ensure that affirming, trauma-informed counseling, psychotherapy, and social skills groups are within reach for those who are underfunded or underinsured.

By removing financial barriers, MPAF helps individuals stay connected to the care they need and deserve—before challenges escalate into higher levels of intervention. Priority access is given to individuals with multiple oppressed identities who have an active care plan with an approved MPAF behavioral health or healthcare provider in Georgia.

Lay the foundation of the path

Despite initial applications being submitted in November 2024, MPAF wasn’t approved by a sponsor until July 2025. With onboarding finally complete, we have three short months to hit our first goal, $100,000 by December 31, 2025.

For every $13,000 increment we achieve, we can begin a psychotherapy or social skills group. For every $2,000 increment we achieve, we can provide one person 12 sessions of therapy. We want to kick off 2026 with a renewed sense of hope and possibility that together we will thrive!

Our goal for 2026 is to serve 114 unique individuals in group and individual services, place three students in a practicum/internship role, and ensure all funds are directed into local small businesses in Georgia.

Each year we will be seeking to increase that goal by 38%. This project is addressing the systemic gaps in affirming trauma informed care that can only be filled in new and creative ways that support divestment from the system and an investment in collective community care.

As we are doing what we do best, excavating for the path ahead, seeking large private donors, grants, foundational gifts, and the right providers, to serve the right folks, at the right time; will you lay the foundation for the Modern Path Access Fund?
