Karen Lill awarded with George C. Podein Counselor of the Year award

Congratulations to our Clinical Team Lead, Karen Lill, for being honored with the prestigious George C. Podein Counselor of the Year award from the LPCA of Georgia.

There are over 6,500 LPCs in the state of Georgia, and Karen was selected as 2025’s top counselor! On the Modern Path team, Karen serves as our fearless leader of our Clinical Team, as a counselor and art therapist seeing clients, as one of our supervisors of our associate and intern-level clinicians, and as an educator for both clinicians and community members.

In the past, she has served as the Vice President of the LGBTQ+ Therapist Resource in Atlanta, as the President and Board Member for the Georgia Art Therapy Association, and she has been a Volunteer Psychomancer for the non-profit, Take This, since 2016. She is now also part of Modern Path’s Geek Path team, where she has been able to expand her support of convention attendees and staff at local conventions here in Atlanta.

Karen is excited to share that she is a contributing author in the to-be-published Psychology of Fallout book and a contributing author in the forthcoming Queer Worldmaking in Art Therapy: Theory & Praxis book. Her two chapters combine her passions for mental health and video gaming, specifically within the Fallout franchise, and her lived and clinical experiences as a chronically queer individual within art therapy, respectively.

She is extremely proud to have the LGBTQ+ community represented with this award this Pride month and to have her work within the community be honored and recognized. Karen gives her all to her clients and her clinical team, and is grateful for their trust in working with her. While she is currently stepping back from work for her parental leave, she looks forward to returning to our team in January 2026.

Congratulations, Karen!
