A Letter to Those Who Feel Unseen

Dear Brave One - Long.png

Dear brave one,

So, you are ready to start your journey in counseling. You’re here because something inside you called you towards change, support, or understanding.

For those of us who feel invisible when we walk through the world, seeking therapy can be intimidating or uneasy.

When you live in a world that is not built for you, you begin to expect that even the things you do for yourself cannot be truly centered around you.

I became a therapist to offer a different reflection to those who feel unseen, an authentic place to nurture your authentic self - a place where you aren’t too much or too little.

You are exactly enough, and exactly who you are meant to be.

I am proud to be a part of Modern Path; where our work focuses on those who identify as part of a gender, sexuality, and/or relationship structure minority.

One of my favorite parts about our group practice is that we are encouraged to be ourselves. We are supported in our own individual strengths and interests.

As a multiracial, queer woman, I have lived experience with the unique stress of multiple minority identities.

My work is grounded in anti-racist, anti-ablelist, sex-positive, kink-positive, queer-friendly, polyam-friendly, trans-friendly, trauma-informed, and a strengths-based foundation.

My own queer and multiracial identities helped cultivate my passion to pursue education and research, specifically at the intersection of racial identity development and sexuality, gender, and relationship structure minority identity.

I like to build genuine therapeutic relationships by providing an informal, direct, and transparent space for you to exercise your individual strengths and discover your potential for growth.

You are the expert in your life, needs, and goals. Together we can discover your counseling needs. We can keep you accountable to the changes you want to make, celebrate your achievements, or sit and process your losses. As you change and grow, please know that our work can change too. Do not feel boxed in by what you think your healing should look like at any point in time. This space is yours to define - I am just here to hold it safely and support you.

When the rest of the world feels so out of reach, grasp your own strengths and qualities, and ground yourself in your own life.

In our work together, I will hold your story with the weight it deserves.

Looking forward to connecting with you,

Kahlor Lutz (she/her)
