Modern Path acknowledges that our business sits on the ancestral lands of the Myskoke and Tsalaguweiyi (Muscogee and Cherokee Nations), stolen and redistributed through the 1821 Georgia Land Lottery. Indigenous peoples were displaced, including children sent to the High Tower Mission School. The land was awarded to the Donaldson and Chestnut Families, who relied on enslaved men, women, and children to harvest timber, manage livestock, and to maintain the earliest, then dirt, roads in the city. As a form of reparations, members of Modern Path’s leadership team provides free pre-licensed supervision to three individuals annually and financial access for professional education.
