Are you struggling to parent your child with ADHD? Are you repeating yourself to the point where your face feels flushed? Have you tripped over your child’s belongings for what feels like the thousandth time?

Ria Ireland Drane, LMSW, will be leading a 10-week skills group for adult caregivers of children/teens with ADHD. This group is ideal for those that want to prepare their kids to grow to be more autonomous, organized, and prepared for all of life’s curve balls.

The intention of this group is to provide caregivers of children/teens with ADHD with the tools and skills for family success. Caregivers will learn the strengths of their children and how to best resource those strengths. Parents will learn how to deepen their relationship with their ADHD children/teens via affirming communication and with their ADHD and not against it with the goal of their child moving more confidently into adulthood.

The group’s focus will be on learning a concept or skill as it relates to ADHD or parenting a child with ADHD, conducting an activity of some kind, and then processing the activity and/or thoughts/feelings that said activity elicited for the participants.

Group members can expect to grow and try new things in a way that affirms their child’s needs and individuality. This is a group of creating successes for each child/caregiver relationship and then sharing said successes in the group for shared understanding and experience. By the end of the group caregivers should feel as though they have an individualized method for managing their child’s unique expression of ADHD.

This group is affirming of, embracing of, and a safe(r) place for individuals of all sexual identities, gender identities, relationship structures, and lifestyles.
